Building a ladder keel assembly for Santa Fe Rectangular Tables

Plant #7 Profile

From the makeshift beginnings in a rented barn to the present 55,000 sq. ft. Barium Springs manufacturing facility in the heart of North Carolina's furniture industry, Plant #7 (formerly Blanton & Moore) has achieved a standard of quality on the library furnishing scene.

The company was founded in 1946 by Lawrence Blanton, Jr. and Thomas Moore, Sr.  Originally makers of fine wood mouldings, by 1960 they had also gained considerable recognition for their craftsmanship of high quality architectural furnishings.

The plant was acquired by Jasper Group in August 2007.

Blanton and Moore envisioned institutional furniture as an extension of the company's production capabilities.  Combining design skill and engineering acumen, they introduced a comprehensive collection of library furniture noteworthy for its innovation, function, flexibility and durability.   Indeed, hallmarks which personify the Blanton & Moore line to this day!

Styling plays an important role in the Blanton & Moore scenario: a skillful mix of clean, crisp uncluttered lines with a timeless appeal.  Sincere, honest design with beauty, strength, and built-in integrity certain to survive

years to come.

The collections are carefully designed and engineered to accommodate a wide range of student and reference requirements--taking into consideration such critical variances as size, proportion and wear factors.  In fact, Blanton & Moore assignments have ranged from the smallest K-12 elementary schools up to some of the largest research libraries in the country.

While we have streamlined our production of standard library furniture with such measures as pre-machined oak and maple components, a visitor to our plant will not be impressed with large-scale, conveyorized assembly lines, batteries of case clamps, and automated finishing.  Rather, one is aware of meticulous attention to detail by experienced people who take pride in their craftsmanship.  And it shows in our products and the satisfaction they bring to our client roster which includes some of the leading repositories of historical, scientific, and other reference literature.
